Fleur-ishing Art

(Kansas City, MO – April 23, 2015)    An exhibition, titled Fleur-ishing Art: An American Impression, features twenty-six artistic flower arrangements, each inspired by a work of art.  The one day exhibition is Friday, April 24th from 8am to 3pm.  The show is free and open to the public.

Members of the Westport Garden Club worked in teams to create unexpected and creative flower arrangements.  The flower arrangements are poetic interpretations of artwork from Commerce Bank’s fine art collection.

The Westport Garden Club’s goal for the show is to set standards of artistic and horticulture excellence, and to broaden knowledge of horticulture, floral design, and conservation.  The show is also a competition for the club.  Judges from seven states selected prize winners.

The exhibition is held in the Box Gallery (1000 Walnut Street) and extends into Commerce Bank’s Trust Art Gallery (922 Walnut), which is easily accessible by a skywalk.

“We are encouraging our downtown audience to stop and smell the roses – and get inspired” stated Robin Trafton, director of The Box Gallery.
